FAQs

Q?What is virgin hair?
A.

Virgin donor hair is unprocessed human hair which is collected from a single person. It is hair that has not been damaged by perms, dye or bleach. It is the highest grade of human hair. The result is that your hair extensions will be extremely manageable, they won’t tangle and will last for a long time.

Q?What is remy hair?
A.

This hair comes from hair donors as well. Once the hair is cut off, it is bundled together so that all the strands are facing in the same direction. This is very important. When the hair cuticles all face the same direction it means the hair is less likely to tangle. It is collected in a manner that keeps all of the strands in one direction from root to tip. They are stronger, healthier and tangle free when compared to non-remy hair. This hair has undergone processing for texture. Its long lasting and can be installed several times over.

Q?What is a cuticle?
A.

Cuticles are the outside horny layers that are composed of transparent, overlapping, protective scale-like cells, towards the hair ends. The cuticle protects the inner structure of the hair. It is provided by the donor in its original state, therefore, the direction of the hair is respected, and the hair does not tangle at all.

Q?What is the difference between single drawn and double drawn hair?
A.

Single drawn hair is cut and gathered as a ponytail from one donor. Therefore there are a few natural shorter strands within the bundle of hair. That’s why a 100g pack of 20’’ will have strands as short as 15’’. Double drawn hair is hackled and trimmed on one side and the hair is even from the weft to the tip. Because of this, the weight of a pack of double drawn hair usually exceeds 100g.

Q?What do the terms ‘bulk’ and ‘wefted’ hair mean?
A.

Bulk hair refers to hair that has been cut from a donor’s head. The hair is in a ponytail and can be used for braids, fusion hair and other hair styles. Wefted hair is hair used for weaving. It is sewn or bonded (with hair glue) into a track ready for the weaving process.

Q?What is the difference between hand-tied wefts and machine wefts?
A.

Hand tied wefts are made by tying strands of hair around a strong weaving thread, this process is done by hand. Hand tied wefts are much thinner than machine wefts because of the precision involved, and lay flat on the scalp to give you a more natural look and significantly reduce hair bumps caused by bulky wefts. Hand tied wefts come in pieces of short tracks and the length of the track depends on the length of the hair. Machine wefts are made by sewing strands of hair together with a hair sewing machine. All of our wefts are reinforced to prevent shedding.

Q?Can I cut my wefts?
A.

Hand tied wefts should NEVER be cut at all, this is a common mistake made by even experienced hair stylists.  Hand tied wefts are totally ruined when cut as the hair will fall out completely in strands. Also, one should never sew through top of the weft and it is recommended you sew around the weft. With machine wefts, the wefts can be cut unlike the hand-tied wefts. However, we recommend that you try as much as possible to avoid cutting the wefts unless its absolutely necessary. It causes shedding, though minimal.

Q?How much hair do I need for a full head?
A.

For lengths 8-10 inches, the standard requirement is 200g. However, for a layered style, you will require more. For lengths 12-18 inches, We recommend 300g. From 20 inches and above, you will need from 400-500g depending on the look you want to achieve.
